good watch, not very petite May 22, 2008 I like this watch, overall, but it did take a while to get used to wearing it. Let me be clear, this is the biggest watch I have seen classified as a woman's watch. This is its biggest drawback, because if its not comfortable, you aren't going to wear it. After I got used to it, I began to like the watch a lot more and forgave its large size. After all, it needs to be big to accommodate the heart rate reader.
I find the heart rate reader accurate most of the time +/- 5bpm. I find it underestimates calories burned. It does not monitor your heart rate like one of the chest straps. You have to read your heart rate periodically, which I haven't had any troubles doing while working out. Your wrist can't be above heart, which isn't a problem for me. I like having the other features available: chronometer, weight, calorie goal, calorie counting, but they are not entirely intuitive. Skimming the manual is recommended. I like the display when you read your heart rate, it displays your %max very clearly, and if you have the chronometer going, it will then display calories burned. The back light is also nice.
Pros: clear + easy display, simple heart rate reading, calorie counting feature, interchangeable/replaceable bands are available to order
Cons: not entirely intuitive interface, very BIG watch, doesn't continually monitor heart rate
Lots of features! Accurate! Apr 06, 2008 I was looking for a watch that would give me a accurate heart rate to make sure I was working out hard enough on my walking but not spend to much on a watch. I compared the "BPM" with my polar heart monitor at home and was amazed that it calculated identical! I like using the stop watch to check my progress when walking my laps around the track. It's easy to use.The price is great!
I'm very happy with this watch.
Not worth the hassle Mar 05, 2008 Being able to monitor my heart rate without a device strapped on my chest sounded like a great idea......and this device allows you to do that, in theory. I have used both a Polar and Nike heart rate monitor in the past and the only draw back was the chest strap that I always seemed to forget at home. Well, you have no chest strap and you can monitor your heart rate while you exercise, but you have to be able to run/cycle/lift weights while placing your fingers on the 2 sensors on the watch. Quite a feat if you are at the height of your workout and don't want to stop. I found that to be a real pain when all I wanted to do was run/cycle/lift weights and occasionally look at a display to see my heart rate. I bought the device without clearly understanding how it operated.
Not for high intensity exersise Jan 16, 2008 I received this watch as a gift after declaring that I did not want to use a chest strap HR monitor. Out of the box it worked great. The petite size is nice (watches almost never fit me) there are tons of holes for any size wrist but the unit itself is very bulky and uncomfortable. I immediately found my heart rate along with my whole family right after I opened it. Set up for the more advanced features was easy to follow once I got out the manual. The problems started when I tried it out at the gym during my normal workout. I figured that it needed to be at least as reliable as the HR on the gym's cardio machines to be useful. I used it while on the treadmill and the elliptical machines to test it out. In both cases I could get my starting HR just fine, and with a couple of tries I could get my HR after upping my speed a little to warm up. It was impossible to to get an accurate HR after reaching my cruising speed (either jogging or on the elliptical). I would have to slow down to nearly a stop in order to find my HR during my workout by which time after making several tries my actual HR would have dropped from the rate I was trying to measure. My recommendation is that if you are using this for anything other than a slow walk buy a unit with a chest strap. That is what I am going to do.
not here Jan 02, 2008 I ordered this product on nov. 30, but have yet to recieve it. Amazon has never failed me before, but I am disappointed that I have not gotten this watch yet. I suspect that is has something to do with choosing the super-shipping option.
