The band is the problem Jul 22, 2008 Like several other reviewers I have to rate this watch very low due to the band breaking and having to throw away an otherwise good watch. First the piece that holds the loose end of the band broke off and then I began to notice little cracks in the band overall. And all within months of purchase, not years. Relatively cheap watch, so no great loss, but annoying nonetheless. Otherwise it does everything well.
Sturdy Watch for the Price Jul 14, 2008 I purchased this watch for my husband not for all the fancy timers, but because he has a physical job and needs a tough, easy to clean watch. So far, it has been perfect. The band doesn't collect too much sweat or dirt, and what does collect is easy to wash off. The watch itself is easy to read, fairly easy to set and program, and looks good. He has been very satisfied with it.

Great Watch, Band Needs Work Jun 25, 2008 This watch has been a terrific part of running training, in wet weather, sweat, and still runs well and looks good after 2 years. I really like the lap timer function a lot, and often use it concurrently with the chrono function. Great watch.
That's the watch itself. It may last forever, but most likely not on your wrist. The band is it's only problem. Mine is held together with Superglue. I like the sleek look, it wears really well, it's comfortable, but it breaks/rips over time. I periodically have to superglue it back together. Finding a replacement band is really not an option, making the watch, unfortunately, a 'disposable' item. It seems to be a common issue, and I would buy a new one that has a band made of a stronger material (hello, Timex?). The band became a problem after about 18 months.
Batteries do die (about every 12-15 months), but that seems pretty normal, and can be relatively easily replaced.

Band replacement must ship to Timex & $10.00 Jun 25, 2008 I had this watch for several months and still think its a great watch but you should know this:
I needed to put the watch in my pants pocket for a brief time and the flexing removed the band.
I have tried to have it replaced in a store but no store could do it with that band.
I checked with Timex and received this response.

I am sorry about the problem with your watch. Unfortunately, that watch does not have a user replaceable band. You would need to send it in to Timex to have the band replaced. The cost for the band replacement is $10.00 plus any applicable tax. The address to send the watch to is
Hotline Watch Service
PO Box 8009
Little Rock, AR 72203
Please include your return shipping information, a note stating that you need a band replacement and a check or money order for $10.00 made payable to Timex.
Sincerely,
Jean Showmar

Easily my favorite watch ever. Jun 15, 2008 I own two of these watches, one for everyday and the other for the gym although they get alternated frequently. Had them for over 2 years already. I've never had an issue with the band, with the water, the battery, or anything for that matter. Have to buy a 3rd b/c my sister in law wants one of mine. Considering its been on vacations, my son tries his hardest to break it(toddler), I lift weights and exercise with it, etc., I can't imagine others are putting there watch thru more rigors. Great watch, pretty easy to use, looks good, and has great qualities. I'm sure as long as they continue to make it I'll keep buying the same exact one.
